Clash erupts as police demolish encroachments near Majerhat Station
In a tragic incident early Sunday morning, four people were killed and 18 injured when two trucks collided on the Peripheral Expressway near Muradnagar, Ghaziabad. According to Additional DCP Traffic, Ghaziabad, Veerendra Kumar, the accident occurred at approximately 1:15 AM when a truck carrying brick kiln workers from Sonipat, Haryana to Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, was hit from the side by another truck as passengers had stopped to urinate. The collision caused the Eicher Canter to overturn, leading to the fatalities and injuries among the 35 passengers.
The deceased have been identified as Mayadevi, 45, Irshad, 30, Najuman, 60, and Shamina, 20, all residents of Hardoi district. The injured were initially taken to a nearby community health center before being referred to Ghaziabad district hospital for further treatment. Nine of the more seriously injured were later transferred to GTB Hospital in Delhi. The accident highlights the dangers of roadside stops and the critical need for safer travel conditions.
